Biggest Loser Resort Headed to Chicago Area

Wellness resort inspired by NBC reality show

The Biggest Loser Resort is scheduled to open in May.

It may not be everyone's idea of a vacation, but a new resort headed to the Chicago suburbs aims to be a destination for people looking to lose a few pounds.

The Biggest Loser Resort, a concept based off the NBC reality show, will open in May 2013 in Itasca.

The company currently has three other similar resorts in Utah, Niagara, NY, and Malibu, Calif., but the Chicago-area location will be the first to offer Four Diamond" accommodations, a championship golf course and a 75-foot indoor pool, according to a news release.

The resort is available to anyone over the age of 14, and focuses on "exercise, healthy nutrition and education."

Guests must stay a minimum of one week.

The hotel is also targeting businesses by offering an option for corporate retreats.
