Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop Arrested for Assault: Police

A man who has made headlines with his unusual name is accused of assaulting a college police officer and a Washington state sheriff.

Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop, 34, has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault, third-degree assault, third-degree malicious mischief as well as malicious harassment, according to police, who referred to him by his original name. Zopittybop-bop-bop has been reported in the past as homeless and having been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

An officer at The Evergreen State College responded to a report that someone was tearing down several fliers in the entrance of the school's library when a suspect led the officer on a chase, according to local newspaper The Olympian. After a chase, the officer was able to get the suspect to the ground, but he proceeded to thrash on the floor and try to take the officer's gun.

The officer and the suspect continued to struggle, during which the suspect allegedly bit the officer's ring finger multiple times and tried to stab him using an ink pen, according to the paper. The officer punched and twice used a Taser on the suspect, however he stood up and fled the scene.

A deputy with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office spotted the suspect running along Evergreen Parkway and followed him into a wooded area, according to the paper. Despite striking the suspect several times with a baton during the pursuit, he was able to run off. The suspect was eventually tackled and apprehended when another deputy assisted the pursuit.

On Monday, Zopittybop-bop-bop appeared in Thurston County Superior Court where his bail was set at $50,000 with an arraignment set for Feb. 16, the paper reported.

The school said in an emailed statement: "We are relieved to report that the officer was released from the hospital and is resting at home, expected to make a full recovery."

Zopittybop-bop-bop, who grew up outside Chicago and later moved to Madison, Wisconsin, was born with the name Jeffrey Drew Wilschke. He legally changed it in 2011. He said in an interview with the Wisconsin State Journal his first name means "the explosion of awareness of the interconnectedness of the infinite love in the universe." Additionally, Doo-doo "is the struggle of our daily lives with that awareness, that with love comes chaos."

The publication also reported Zopittybop-bop-bop homeless and lives mostly off a monthly federal disability check having been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
