An employee of a suburban Chicago bar suffered a serious eye injury, which later caused him to lose the eye, when a female patron threw a high-heeled shoe at him during an argument this month.
The man was working security Aug. 16 at Linger Martini Bar, 4142 W. 167th St. in south suburban Oak Forest, when staff members asked a man who had fallen asleep at the bar to leave, according to police.
Staff said the patron was walked out by two family members, including Tenisha Netter, and an argument ensued outside during which Netter took off a shoe and threw it at the employee, with the heel point hitting him in an eye, the SouthtownStar reports.
The victim returned inside, ordered the bar closed and police were called. When officers arrived, they found the employee “in bad shape” in a staff room, police reported.
They said the employee was taken to South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, where he was diagnosed with a serious eye injury and transferred to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for emergency surgery. Police said Tuesday the surgery was not able to save his eye.
The man told police he had previous confrontations with Netter, 38, of Calumet City, who was charged with aggravated battery.
