Bank of America Chicago Marathon Organizers Announce New 5K on Race Weekend

The International Chicago 5K will take place on Saturday, October 8

Every year, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon welcomes thousands of runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries to a 26.2-mile course through the streets of Chicago.

But this year, runners, fans, friends, and family alike can take part in a new, slightly shorter race on marathon weekend.

The first-ever International Chicago 5K will take place on Saturday, October 8, organizers announced Tuesday. The 3.1-mile race will take place largely along the lakefront and through the city’s Loop, just one day before the iconic Chicago Marathon steps off.

The race starts at 7:30 a.m. at Daley Plaza, and ends in Grant Park near the Chicago Marathon finish line. Registration costs $35, and participants will receive a knit finisher hat. For more information or to register for the race, visit Chicago5K.com.
