Bank Robber Dude Looks Like a Lady

Skokie teen steals the show and some cash

A bank-robbing teen found himself charged by both the Park Ridge Police and the fashion police.

In August 2008, a man walked into the MB Financial Bank in Park Ridge at closing time and pulled out a black handgun from his purse, according to police.

Yes, his purse.

The suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Shane T. Collymore of Skokie, was wearing a black-and-pink dress, white gloves, sandals, and a woman's sun hat.

Maybe the store was out of ski masks.

Collymore allegedly ordered a bank employee to put all the money from the safe into his purse, then tied up two other employees in a restroom. Police said he made off with about $107,000.

When Park Ridge police finally captured the cross dressing bank robber, it turned out they didn't have to look far.

Collymore was already in custody on a drug conviction. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Collymore is currently serving a four-year prison sentence for manufacturing ecstasy and possession of marijuana. Cops added armed robbery, aggravated unlawful restraint, and aggravated kidnapping to the litany.

No word yet on what charges the fashion police will be bringing against him.
