A baby was shot in the head while riding in a car on Chicago's West Side Friday afternoon.
The 1-year-old girl was riding in the backseat of a car with her aunt and cousin in the Austin neighborhood.
They were driving at 4:45 p.m. in the 5400 block of W. Le Moyne when someone fired shots at the car from a silver vehicle, Chicago Police confirmed.
A bullet went through the trunk and back seat, striking the baby in the head.
She was taken to West Suburban Medical Center, then transferred to Stroger Hospital where she is in stable condition, police said.
Family members told NBC 5 that the baby's name is Khloe, and she had just been picked up from day care when the shots were fired.
No one is in custody and police continue to investigate the shooting.
