Autopsy: Woman Found In House Fire Was Strangled

No arrests made in homicide case

Police say autopsy results show a woman found in an Oak Forest house fire Tuesday was strangled to death.

Firefighters removed 40-year-old Erica Rodriguez from the south suburban home after responding to the scene, but she was pronounced dead a short time later. Investigators are calling her death a homicide.

The victim's husband, 48-year-old Marin Rodriguez, was found unresponsive on a side porch of the home. He was listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

Officials say three children -- ages 17, 15 and 6 -- live in the home, but were at school at the time of the fire.

No charges have been filed in the case and police did not say if they have leads on a suspect.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
