Aurora Man Pleads Guilty to Traveling to Meet Minor Girl

Josh T. Archer, of the 1500 block of Simms Street in Aurora, agreed to a sentence of three years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea to traveling to meet a minor

A 33-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to traveling to meet a minor girl in a west suburban Aurora hotel.

Josh T. Archer, of the 1500 block of Simms Street in Aurora, agreed to a sentence of three years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea to traveling to meet a minor, a Class 3 felony, according to a statement from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

In addition to the prison term, Archer must register as a sex offender for the next 10 years, according to the statement.

On Dec. 23, 2014, Archer responded to an online personal advertisement service and solicited sexual favors with someone whom he believed was the girl’s mother, according to the statement.

He went to an Aurora hotel planning to have sex with “what he believed would be either a 14-year-old or a 15-year-old girl.”

When he arrived, he met with a person he thought was the girl’s mother, confirmed that he wanted sexual favors, and then was arrested by officers from Homeland Security Investigations and the Aurora Police Department, according to the statement.
