Arm Severed in Crash Near Midway

A person lost their arm when they were ejected from their car in a crash early Sunday.

A person’s arm was severed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday near Midway Airport on the Southwest Side.

Two people, who were both ejected during the crash, were taken to separate hospitals, police said. One person was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and a second person was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

About 4:30 a.m., police responded to the area of West Archer and South Nagle avenues for a two-vehicle crash, police said.

During the crash one person, who was later taken to Loyola University Medical Center, had one arm severed, police said. Crews on the scene were able to locate the arm, and the arm was taken to Loyola.

The CTA has rerouted all bus service near the crash site, police said.
