Another season of filming for the TV shows "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago PD" means a boost for Illinois' economy.
That's according to the Illinois Film Office, which says local spending last year for the two NBC shows hit $87 million.
Both shows are recorded in Chicago and have been renewed for another season.
Betsy Steinberg is managing director of the film office. She says the shows have become "job creators" and another season means steady work for hundreds of actors, electricians, drivers, construction workers and others.
Gov. Pat Quinn has been working to lure film, TV and commercial productions, including by offering state support to the Cinespace Chicago Film Studios.
A statement from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity calls Cinespace the largest U.S. soundstage outside Hollywood.
