Missing Teen Found, Unrelated to Case of Escaped Inmate

A 15-year-old girl who went missing early Wednesday has been found, police said.

An alert was issued in the afternoon for Savannah Bell, who was originally believed to be with the Kankakee jail inmate who escaped Wednesday morning.

Bell was found safe later in the afternoon, according to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Department, and upon further questioning officials found her case was unrelated to the disappearance of Kamron Taylor, an inmate who escaped from a Kankakee County jail early Wednesday morning.

Taylor, who was recently convicted of murder, allegedly escaped from a two-man cell in the Jerome Combs Detention Center around 3 a.m., according to Kankakee County Sheriff Tim Bukowski. Taylor then hid in the facility and attacked a veteran guard, beating and choking him.

Taylor stole the guard's uniform and keys and fled the facility in the guard's car. The vehicle was later recovered in the 1100 block of South Lincoln in Kankakee, but Taylor is still at large. He is wearing a correctional officer uniform and is considered armed and dangerous.
