Chicago’s Alinea restaurant continues its claim to fame among the most refined palates.
The ultra-modernist Lincoln Park restaurant owned by famed chef Grant Achatz was named the best restaurant in the U.S. and fifth best restaurant in the world by Trip Advisor’s Travelers’ Choice Restaurant awards.
The travel review website cited the “impressive creations delicately crafted by renowned chef and owner Gran Achatz.”
Standout menu items included the Dungeness crab, trout roe, and Wagyu.
The restaurant apparently racked up some of the top reviews for quality and quantity over a one-year period, bringing it to top-restaurant status—again.
Earlier this year, Restaurant magazine named the high-end eatery no. 9 in its list of the world’s Top 50 best restaurants. According to the magazine, Alinea takes "diners on an unapologetically mind-blowing journey," and "the chef continues to push the boundaries of avant-garde cuisine with his ever-evolving menus."
The world’s top Travelers’ Choice Restaurant was El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, followed by Midsummer House in Cambridge England.
Alinea out-cooked Eleven Madison Park in New York City, Restaurant Gary Danko in San Francisco and Halls Chophouse in Charleston, South Carolina.
