Alexi Pappas Takes First for Women in Shamrock Shuffle

Elite runner Alexi Pappas took first place for women in the 2015 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle Sunday.

Pappas finished with an unofficial time of 00:26:32 with an average pace of 5:21 minutes per mile. The Olympic hopeful and Nike Oregon Track Club elite runner held the No. 1 bib in the race.

Although she came in first place, the Windy City lived up to its reputation and made the run a little more difficult for Pappas.

"It was a little bit chilly out there and certainly windy, but you literally take it in stride," Pappas said. "Even if the wind is hitting you, you still put in that race effort."

This is Pappas' second visit to Chicago. She first visited in the fall for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon when she paced elite runners.

"I say it's the only way I know the city," Pappas said. "I may never be able to return to Chicago without running a race."
