After 30 Years of Old Ad, New Victory Auto Wreckers Commercial Airs

The new commercial hit TVs across the Chicago area May 1

Out with the old, in with the new.

The Bensenville-based Victory Auto Wreckers finally scrapped their now famous commercial that aired on TVs across the Chicago area for the last 30 years. The new advertisement replaced the old one on May 1.

The new commercial doesn't have the same actor and broken-down car, but the auto company retained some of the beloved elements of the original ad. The opening scene features the same scenario with the same slogan of "That old car is worth money!"

The auto business created an ad contest leading up to the debut of the new commercial in which they asked fans to create their own original commercials or recreate the famous one.

After the votes were tallied in April, Victory Auto Wreckers deteremined the voting process was somehow rigged. After a few entries received drastically more votes than others due to voting from outside the Chicago area, and even outside the country, the auto company decided to air all eight entries in the week before the new official commercial began airing.
