Acclaimed Andersonville Pizza Shop Shuts Down

Great Lake may reopen in new location

A tiny Andersonville pizza restaurant that GQ proclaimed the best pie in America closed its doors over the weekend.

Great Lake had planned to close a few days before its lease ran out on January 31, but the last day turned out to be Friday. The owners celebrated with a private party for their best customers on Saturday, Grub Street Chicago reported.

The owners reportedly plan to open a new location, but where and when remains a mystery.

The pizza -- mainly the chewy crust -- attracted fans such as Jay-Z and Beyonce when they were in Chicago, but just like everyone else, they had to wait in line before scoring a seat in the tiny restaurant.
