A Sneak Peek At Derrick Rose's New Sneaker

Adidas plans to unveil the signature sneaker's third installment in time for the NBA season this fall

Since Derrick Rose began wearing adidas sneakers, Chicago has seen a considerable spike in people wearing the three-stripes brand. Though the Windy City has unofficially been known as a “Nike” town, adidas seems to have made considerable inroads with urban areas once ruled by the Swoosh and Brand Jordan.

Sure Nike and Michael Jordan still dominate in Chicago in terms of what people like to wear, but since D. Rose's ascension to superstardom, people (especially kids) want to wear the sneakers he wears.

Following the release of the adizero Rose 2.5 kicks a few months ago, adidas plans to unveil the signature sneaker's third installment in time for the NBA season this fall.

Though Derrick may not get a chance to wear them as he recovers from his ACL surgery, basketball fans surely will still rush to buy them, especially if they look nice.

Chinese sneaker website, hupu.com took a look at the prototype for Rose's third signature shoe. Stylistically, it's totally different from what we've seen of his most recent kicks, and adidas appears to have taken more elements from his first signature shoe.

From the pictures, Rose's logo was redesigned, and his first initial appears inside of a rose silhouette on the outside of the tongue.

The inside of the tongue features a depiction of the street sign marking the intersection of 73rd and Paulina where Derrick grew up, as well as words like “sleeping giant” and “fatal silence” which aptly describe his personality and play on the court. There is also a “773” inside the tongue which of course is one of Chicago's area codes.

What appears in the pictures are in no way the final version, just a sneak peak of what's to come.

As the release date gets closer, more “official” images of the shoe will be released from adidas as well as a full-blown marketing campaign. But for now, enjoy an early look at the signature sneakers of one of the greatest basketball players this city has ever produced.
