It'll be a first for Chicago's gay community when the 40th Pride Parade is led Sunday by its first transgendered grand marshal, actressAlexandra Billings, ChicagoPride.com is reporting.

Rich Pfeiffer, Chicago's Pride Parade coordinator for the last 35 years, said in today's Sun-Times that Billings' role as grand marshal is particularly meaningful because this year's parade celebrates the 40th anniversary of Stonewall, where many of those who fought back against the police in a New York City gay bar were transgendered.

Alexandra and her wife, Chrisanne Blankenship were married in Chicago in the mid-1990's. More recently, they re-married in California, their present home. ChicagoPride.com says she is "an obvious proponent of same-sex marriage, she is adamant about her views on the issue of marriage."
