The first incident was reported at 11:45 p.m. Sunday and the last at 8 a.m. Monday

Nearly a dozen violent robberies were reported overnight on Chicago’s Northwest Side, putting residents on edge and police on alert.

The series of what authorities say was nine robberies all took place in the city’s Albany Park neighborhood in roughly eight hours.

According to Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson, a group of two to four men, believed to be in their late-teens or early-20s, were approaching people and robbing them of their wallets and cell phones. It was not immediately clear if anyone in the group was armed, police said, but each wore a dark-hooded sweatshirt.

The first incident was reported at 11:40 p.m. Sunday and the last at 8 a.m. Monday.

According to Johnson, police currently believe the robberies are being done at “random.”

The suspects may also be connected to the attempted carjacking of a limo driver as well, Johnson said.

“We will find the offenders responsible,” he said.
