8-Year-Old Boy, Man Attacked by Dog in Chatham

A police source said the dog was a pit bull

An 8-year-old boy and a 48-year-old man were injured in an attack by a dog in the South Side Chatham neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m., the dog got loose and attacked the two victims in the 100 block of East 90th Street, according to Chicago Police News Affairs. The boy sustained injuries to his leg, and the man sustained injuries to his chin, chest, face, finger, wrist and leg.

A police source said the dog was a pit bull.

The boy and the man were taken to MetroSouth Medical Center for treatment, police said.

The dog's owner was cited for failure to refrain the dog and for not not having a dog license, police said.
