8 Injured in Police Chase Gone Bad

One vehicle, an SUV, flipped over in the crash and ended on its roof in a front yard.

Three people were taken into custody after a chase gone bad left a Chicago police detective and seven others hospitalized.

Around 8:50 p.m. Thursday, Grsham District police tried pulling over an SUV they believed had weapons in it.

The driver tried to speed away, then ran a red light and crashed into a Dodge Intrepid carrying four women near 83rd and Indiana, as well as the officer's unmarked squad car.

The SUV flipped over in the crash and ended on its roof in a front yard. The squad lost a bumper and had damage to the hood. The Dodge sustained heavy damage as well.

Four people were listed in critical condition. Two remain in the hospital Friday morning, and the detective was treated and released.
