Five people were injured when a wrong-way driver struck a cab and an ambulance early Sunday morning in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, police said.

Police said the crash took place around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of East Illinois Street and Columbus Drive.

A vehicle heading the wrong way down Illinois Street struck a cab and a Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago ambulance, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.

Five people were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Officials at the scene initially said children were believed to have been on the ambulance during the crash but ambulance officials later confirmed no children were on board. News affairs said the five people transported were adults.
