Four teens and a 24-year-old woman were arrested after they allegedly broke into an elderly woman’s suburban home and held a gun to her head while attempting to steal from her.
The home invasion happened around 4 a.m. Friday in the 16500 block of Luella Avenue, a quiet suburban cul-de-sack in South Holland.
A woman called police and reported five suspicious people were walking to the side of her home. Officers were canvassing the area when they heard the sounds of breaking glass and cries for help nearby.
“There was a lady yelling out of a second floor window saying, ‘Help, there are five people in my house with a gun,’” said Chief Greg Baker with the South Holland Police Department.
Inside, police found five people robbing the elderly woman at gunpoint.
“There were people running around, they immediately ran into the basement,” Baker said.
The elderly homeowner told police the five offenders broke into her home through the front door and put a gun to her head while she was in her bedroom, authorities said. The group told her not to call police and took her mobile and house phones.

The woman claims the group ransacked every room in her home and stacked several items by the doors that they had planned to steal.
All five were taken into custody by police and a loaded handgun, found in the cocked position, was recovered, authorities said. The gun had been reported stolen from Georgia several months ago, according to police.
Ledor Lenoir, 24, of Chicago, a 14-year-old girl, two 15-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy were all charged with home invasion and possession of a stolen firearm.
All five gave videotaped statements admitting to the crime and other crimes committed that night in Chicago and Gary, Indiana, police said.
The four teens, who were not identified due to their age, were taken to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center and appeared in a bond hearing Monday. Lenoir was taken to the Cook County Department of Corrections and was issued a $300,000 bond Saturday.
