‘Isolated Incident': Police Investigate Shots Fired in Lincoln Park

One resident initially thought the gunshots he heard were fireworks

Two people testing a gun on a roof of a building may have prompted police and SWAT to respond to the city's North Side Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., investigators responded to a shots fired call in the 2700 block of Pine Grove Ave. in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood, according to police. Officers had blocked off the intersection of Wrightwood and Pine Grove.

One resident initially thought the gunshots he heard were fireworks.

"I heard maybe about five shots," said Sam McIntire. "It sounded like more but I could tell that some of them were echoes. And then there was like a 10 second pause and then about five more of the same thing."
