3 Wounded in Two Shootings Overnight

Three men were wounded, none seriously, in two shootings in Humboldt Park and Lawndale overnight.

The first shooting occurred shortly before midnight when a 48-year-old man who was standing on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of North Karlov Avenue heard gunfire and realized he was shot, police said. He was shot in the upper left thigh and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in “stable” condition, police said.

A few hours later two men were shot in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. They were walking on the sidewalk in the 4100 block of West 16th Street when a gunman approached on foot and fired shots, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

A 33-year-old man was shot in the right hand and buttocks, Alfaro said. A 26-year-old man was shot in the right thigh. Both were taken in “stable” condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related, Alfaro said.
