3 Kayakers Rescued from Lake Michigan

A fourth kayaker made it to shore unaided

Emergency crews rescued three kayakers from Lake Michigan near Diversey Harbor on the North Side early saturday.

Police responded to a marine distress call about 1 a.m. in the waters off the 2700 block of North Lake Shore Drive and were able to pull three kayakers from the lake, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

None were injured, Gaines said. The ages and genders of those rescued were not immediately known.

A fourth kayaker, who was unaccounted for at the time of the rescue, appears to have made it back to shore unaided, police said.
