The shooting happened at West 74th Street and South Ashland Avenue

Three men were critically wounded in a shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood Saturday morning.

The shooting happened at West 74th Street and South Ashland Avenue at 11:24 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said. Police initially were notified that two men were shot at that location, but then discovered a third victim from that shooting. All three victims were shot in the chest, Kubiak said.

The two victims were taken, both in critical condition, to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford. The third victim, also in critical condition, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical center in Oak Lawn, according to Kubiak.

The CTA’s No. 75 74th-75th buses were being rerouted temporarily in both directions via 74th, Racine, 76th, Ashland, and 74th, for the police investigation, according to a CTA alert.

Area South detectives are investigating.
