3 Arrested in Suburban Drug House Investigation

An investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office ended in the recovery of drugs, weapons and cash

Three suspects were arrested on drug and weapon charges following an investigation into a suspected drug house in suburban Beach Park.

Damon D. Duffie, 30, Dwayne D. Gordon, 28, and Aaron Swopes, 31, were arrested at the conclusion of the Lake County Sheriff's Special Investigations Unit's two-week investigation. The house in question is located on Waldo Avenue in Beach Park.

Detectives from the Lake County Sheriff's Office recovered nearly 540 grams of cannabis, 88 grams of heroin, 61 grams of powdered cocaine, 15 grams of crack cocaine, 11 fluid ounces of promethazine (an anti-histamine/sedative), assorted paraphernalia, two handguns and more than $5,000 in cash.

The investigation, which ended Thursday, included two traffic stops and the execution of a search warrant.

Duffie, of Beach Park, was charged with felonies for intent to deliver heroin and promethazine and with posession of drug paraphernalia. He was also wanted for an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court for writing bad checks out of DeKalb County.

Gordon, of Waukegan, was charged with possession of crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated possession of a firearm, armed violence and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Swopes, of Waukegan, was charged with possession of heroin as well as the traffic charges.

Both Duffie and Gordon are being held on $1 million bond and are expected to appear in court Dec. 15. Swopes is being held on $100,000 bond and is expected to appear in court Nov. 25.
