$250K Bond for Man Charged With Kidnapping Girlfriend, Threatening Her With Hammer

The victim told police she was in a dating relationship with Bojszuk, but she says he woke her up and forced her to get into a car against her will

Bond was set at $250,000 for a north suburban man charged with using a hammer to force his girlfriend into a car and try to drive her to Canada.

At about 2:40 a.m. Friday, Illinois State Police contacted the Lake County sheriff’s office to say they had a man in custody in an “unlawful restraint investigation” and had found the victim unharmed, a statement from the sheriff’s office said.

George Bojszuk, 46, of the 41000 block of North Circle Drive in Antioch stopped to get gas at I-94 at the Lake Forest Oasis while the victim was in his vehicle, police said. But the woman “was able to alert the gas station clerk that she was being held against her will, and asked the clerk to contact law enforcement,” the statement said.

Bojszuk drove away with the victim prior to arrival of troopers, but they located the vehicle traveling on I-94 south of the oasis, stopped it and rescued the victim, police said.

The victim told police she was in a dating relationship with Bojszuk, but just after midnight on Friday, he woke her up while she was asleep at their Antioch home and used a hammer to force her into the vehicle against her will, police said. His plan was to take the victim to Canada.

He was charged with felony unlawful restraint, misdemeanor aggravated assault and misdemeanor domestic battery, police said. Officers also found Bojszuk in possession of a substance which field tested positive for phencyclidine, so he was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Sheriff’s officers later learned that he was wanted by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for a possible DUI-related probation violation.

He was ordered held on a $250,000 bond at a hearing in Lake County Saturday, the sheriff’s office said. There is no bond for the Wisconsin probation violation warrant.
