A 22-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping after a teen girl went missing in Crown Point, Indiana and was later found safe this weekend in Arkansas, prosecutors said.
Alexander Curry-Fishtorn faces 21 charges in connection with the alleged kidnapping of 16-year-old Madison Elizabeth Yancy Eddlemon, according to the Lake County Prosecutor's office. The charges include kidnapping, confinement, battery and stalking. He was being held in Arkansas pending extradition, authorities said.
"We had a restraining order on him he wasn't allowed to be anywhere near her but you see where that got us," said the victim's aunt Ann Cain.
Not long after the teen admitted to becoming his girlfriend, according to officials, the suspect was accused of becoming "abnormally angry" and "controlling" over what the victim wore, who she looked at and spoke to.
The teen reported seeing Curry-Fishtorn stalking her at the Lake County Fair and a week later, the stalking turned to an alleged kidnapping, she told the investigators.
Investigators say the suspect's sister confirmed what they already assumed—he had a history of violence with his family members.
"I hope they keep him in prison for as long as they can," Eddlemon told detectives.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office in Indiana had issued a statewide Amber Alert Sunday for Eddlemon, who was last seen around 9 a.m. on Aug. 17 in Crown Point.
The Crown Point Police Department said that Eddlemon had last been seen in her own car, which was found abandoned near the corner of Magnolia and Sherwood Drives. Eddlemon’s belongings were still in the car and one of the windows was cracked, Crown Point police said.
Authorities believed that Eddlemon was with Curry-Fishtorn and that she was in “extreme danger.” Eddlemon’s family had previously filed a protective order against Curry-Fishtorn for stalking, police said.
According to FBI officials, Curry-Fishtorn was taken into custody Sunday.
"I am proud of the professionalism and diligence shown by the all of the investigators working on this case," Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez said in a statement. "It has been a cooperative effort between our officers, the FBI and state and local agencies."
