2 Veteran Chicago Police Officers Probed Over Alleged Prostitution of Underage Victim

An investigation is underway over two veteran Chicago police officers who may be linked to the sex trafficking of an underage girl while off duty, according to a report.

A department spokesman did not confirm the nature of the investigation to NBC Chicago, but he did confirm an investigation underway and that the officers have been relieved of their police powers and reassigned to desk duty.

The probe is focused on the role the two had in the sex trafficking of a 14-year-old victim who had been soliciting prostitution online, a source told The Chicago Tribune.

Each of the officers have been on the job for over 20 years, according to the Tribune, citing city records. The publication did not name the officers because they have not been charged with a crime.

At a regularly scheduled police board meeting, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said nothing about an investigation involving two of his officers.

Sources tell NBC 5 the FBI is investigating two veteran police officers.

Dean Angelo, President of Lodge 7 of the Fraternal Order of Police, said he has not been notified of the investigation but is watching the situation closely.

"We were kind of, I wouldn't say blindsided, but we were taken aback when we got calls from media regarding this incident," Angelo said. "If these allegations are substantiated.. Legal defense funding would not be available."
