A man and a woman were in serious condition early Friday morning after they were shot in their car near Wrigleyville.

The shooting happened around 3:20 a.m. in an alley in the 4100 block of North Kenmore Avenue below the Red Line tracks, according to Chicago Police.

The man and woman were sitting in a car when someone walked up with a gun and fired into the vehicle, police said. A woman in her 20s was shot in her shoulder and abdomen, and a man in his 30s was shot in the abdomen. They were taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.

Police say it may have been an attempted robbery, though it's still early in the investigation.

The gunman ran away and no arrests have been made.
