2 Pedestrians Injured in Hit-and-Run on Chicago's South Side

The vehicle involved was believed to be a gray Jeep

Two pedestrians were injured when they were hit by an SUV Saturday evening on Chicago's South Side, police said.

The accident happened at around 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of Archer Avenue and Halsted Street. According to police, the SUV attempted to make a left-hand turn to go westbound on Archer when the vehicle struck two people.

The vehicle, which was believed to be a gray Jeep, then continued westbound on Archer.

One victim, a 27-year-old woman, sustained head injuries, and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

The second victim, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to Stroger Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Chicago Police Department's Major Accidents Unit has taken over investigation.
