Nine people were hospitalized Saturday after being exposed to formaldehyde at an Elgin factory, officials said.

Two men are recovering after they fell into frigid Lake Michigan Friday night near the Adler Planetarium, officials said.

The two 25-year-old men fell into the water around 11 p.m. near the 900 block of East Solidarity Drive, police said.

Bystanders managed to pull one of the men from the water while police rescued the other, officials said.

Both men were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
