Two people were killed Thursday morning in a hit-and-run on Chicago’s South Side.

Police say a man driving a Nissan hit a man and woman as they crossed the street near 95th and Cottage Grove Avenue around 2:45 a.m., police said. The Nissan then drove off.

Officers tracked down the driver several blocks away near 94th Street and Champlain Avenue, where he was taken into custody and the car impounded, police said.

Police are not releasing the identities of the victims. They say the man appears to be in his 50s or 60s, and the woman appears to be in her 40s.
