Police said the SUV driver blew a red light slamming into a car downtown.

A collision between an SUV and a car sparked a fiery scene downtown Thursday night.

A Cadillac Escalade blew a red light around 10:45 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Street and Wacker Drive, Chicago Police said. The SUV slammed into a Porsche, which caught fire.

The Porsche’s driver and passenger escaped in time, police said. They received treatment at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center and were later released, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.

Police ticketed the Escalade’s driver for running a red light, the paper reports.
