Two Chicago firefighters were hurt early Tuesday when a home's front porch gave way in an extra-alarm blaze.

Officials said the firefighters were battling the fire at 88th and Parnell on the city's Far South Side just before 4 a.m. when the porch suddenly collapsed. The men fell all the way into the basement and were briefly trapped.

Crews pulled them to safety through a side window and they were transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition.

A fire department spokesperson said one of the injured firefighters was released frm the hospital later Tuesday morning and the other was not expected to be admitted.

Both men are expected to be OK.
