2 Dead, 3 Injured in Suburban Crash on Christmas Day

The two-car crash took place around 6:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Sanders Road

A 91-year-old woman and a 93-year-old man were killed in a Christmas Day crash in north suburban Northbrook that injured three other people.

The two-car crash took place around 6:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Sanders Road, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office.

According to an initial report, an Acura was traveling northbound on Sanders Road and had a green light when a Chrysler turned in front of the Acura.

Officers responding to the scene found two people unresponsive in a 2006 silver Chrysler 300, police said. The driver, a 91-year-old woman, and a 93-year-old passenger, both from Northbrook, were taken to area hospitals where they later died, according to authorities.

The driver of the Acura, a 66-year-old man, along with a 66-year-old woman and a 34-year-old woman, were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

Police said an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
