2 Charged with Package Theft in Oak Lawn

The offenders were delivering phone books in the area when they stole two packages from a porch

Two people have been arrested for stealing packages off a porch in Oak Lawn on Wednesday.

The two offenders snatched the packages from the porch of a home in the 10000 block of S. Kildare Ave. They were delivering phone books in the area for their job when the theft occurred.

Witnesses observed the offenders removing the two packages and loading them into the trunk of their vehicle before leaving the scene.

Alicia Wallace, 34, and Warren Bailey, 46, both of the 4400 block of Georgia Street in Gary, Ind., were charged for the theft. Wallace was charged with one count of theft, and Bailey was charged with one count of possessing stolen property and one count of driving with a suspended driver's license.

The incident comes after a series of recent package thefts on Monday. Three thefts were reported in Portage Park and Lakeview, and five people were arrested. Police believe the incidents were unrelated.
