A 19-year-old Mount Prospect man died Tuesday night after being hit by a car in the northwestern suburb.

Police say they found Matthew Svedman lying in the street just south of the intersection of Rand Road and Prospect Manor Avenue around 8:30 p.m. A witness told them Svedman was hit by a car as he stepped into the southbound lanes of the intersection.

Crews took him to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where he was pronounced dead around 9:30 p.m.

The 56-year-old Mount Prospect woman driving the car wasn’t injured.

Police are still investigating the accident.  They ask anyone who saw the crash call the Mount Prospect Police Department at 847-870-5656.
