16-Year-Old Aurora Boy Charged in Murder of Teen

The boy allegedly shot another teenager to death outside of the victim's home Friday

A 16-year-old boy from suburban Aurora was charged Saturday in the shooting death of another teenager Friday afternoon.

The teen, who will not be named because of his age, allegedly approached Gianni Aguirre with another 17-year-old boy outside of Aguirre's home in the 100 block of Bluff Street in Aurora at about 1 p.m. Friday. He and Aguirre then allegedly exchanged words before the teen pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at Aguirre, striking him once in the chest, Aurora police said.

The two teenagers then fled the scene, but Aurora police arrested them without incident just six minutes later about two blocks away. Police also recovered a gun in the same area.

Aguirre was transported to an Aurora hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived. An autopsy is pending at the Kane County Coroner's office.
