16 Dogs Rescued After Police Capture Man Running South Side Dog-Fighting Operation

Officers found seven adult dogs and nine puppies along with drugs and ammunition at the man's home

Sixteen dogs have been rescued and a 43-year-old man has been charged after police discovered the man was running a dog-fighting operation from his Fuller Park residence on the South Side.

Clifford McNeil, of the 4700 block of South Shields, was charged with eight felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, two felony counts of dog fighting, 16 misdemeanor counts of animal owner duties violation and eight misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.

At 10 a.m. Friday, Chicago Police officers used a search warrant to enter the yard and garage of a home on the 4800 block of South Shields where they found “gaunt canines along with various paraphernalia used for the purposes of dog-fighting and training,” according to a statement from Chicago Police.

Officers also found seven adult dogs and nine puppies along with drugs and ammunition, the statement said.

McNeil is expected in bond court Saturday.
