13-Year-Old Sexually Assaulted on Chicago's South Side

A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by several males Saturday night on Chicago’s South Side, police said.

The teen told police she was walking in a park just before 7 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Calumet when someone grabbed her. The girl was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition.

No one was in custody as of Monday morning and an investigation remained ongoing, authorities said.

Residents in the area were shocked by the news.

“First and foremost it’s unacceptable,” said community activist Andrew Holmes. “It’s off limits to any woman, any female no matter how old she is, do not have to bother her.”

Holmes was in the area near where the assault occurred over the weekend handing out flyers in search of information on the suspects.

“We’re going to find these individuals,” he said. “I can guarantee.”
