A family on Chicago's West Side copes with tragedy after a 13-year-old boy died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
Police said the boy's body was found just before 11 p.m. Thursday in a home on the 100 block of South Parkside Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital shortly after.
So far police don't know whether the shooting was an accident. Police are interviewing witnesses.
Authorities are not treating the death as a homicide.
