Naperville Police Search for Luxury Car Thief

Naperville police issue warrant for 22-year-old man

Naperville police issued a warrant Thursday for a man who allegedly stole multiple high-end vehicles in at least four states.

Justin William Durbin, 22, is wanted for felony auto theft after not returning from a test drive of a 2003 Mercedes Benz SL55 from Mercedes Benz of Naperville dealership on June 13.

Durbin is believed to have begun the stealing spree in early June, driving away in a Mercedes from an Indiana dealership. He then allegedly drove the stolen vehicle to St. Charles, Mo., where he traded it out for a red 2011 Mercedes Benz GLK, worth $43,000.

"That vehicle that was recovered here in Naperville appeared that it had been detailed somewhere along the way so he's actually, it appears, taking care of these vehicles," said Naperville police Sgt. Gregg Bell.

A week after stealing the Mercedes from Naperville, Durbin allegedly appeared in Naples, Fla., where he stole a gray 2007 Bentley GT Continental worth $97,900, his latest theft.

Authorities said Durbin has avoided getting caught by using stolen license plates and disposable cell phones.

Durbin has yet to be caught, as the Naples dealership said there is no way to track the stolen Bentley.
