“Superman” Film Seeks Chicagoland Extras

Sequel scheduled to be shot here later this summer

Chicago-area actors will soon be lining up for a chance to appear on screen with the Man of Steel.

Warner Bros. is hosting casting calls for its Superman sequel in Chicago, Plano and Naperville, Crain's reports.

The producers are looking for paid extras for the film, which will be shot in those same three cities later this summer.

A casting rep told Crain's that they're looking for men, women and children, but especially infant twins and "military/athletic types."

The "Superman: Man of Steel" castings will be held Saturday and next week. A Web site listing casting information appears to have crashed, but several publications listed the following casting locations:

  • June 18th, 11a.m.-4p.m.: DePaul's Naperville Campus (150 West Warrenville Rd)
  • June 22nd, 6-8 p.m.: Plano High School (704 West Abe Street)
  • June 25th, 11a.m.-4p.m.: Chicago Academy for the Arts (1010 West Chicago Ave.)

The film has an $175 million budget and is expected to debut Christmas 2012.
