Eleven people were transported to area hospitals Tuesday morning from a crash that apparently stemmed from a nearby shooting.

A car reportedly fleeing from gunshots collided with a westbound No. 75 CTA bus and sent it into a pole near Vincennes Avenue and 75th Street in Englewood, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The car was heavily damaged, fire officials say, and three people in the car were seriously injured.

The bus driver and five passengers were treated for non-life threatening injuries. A woman in a nearby restaurant also was treated for lacerations from flying glass.

No one was hurt by reported gunfire.

The Chicago Tribune reports the crash followed a shooting that started around 9:30 a.m. According to witnesses, two men exited a truck and opened fire behind the truck while it drove down the block.
