$700,000 in Drugs Seized on the West Side

A Melrose Park man was charged in the drug raid.

Police found more than 100 pounds of marijuana, plus several handguns and a shotgun, at a West Side warehouse Sunday night, police say. The street value of the drugs is more than $700,000.

Fernando Camarillo, 43, of the 2500 block of Landen in Melrose Park, was charged with felony trafficking and four weapons violations, according to a News Affairs press release.

Police executed a search warrant of Camarillo's place of business in the 5100 block of West Lake Street around 8:30 p.m. Sunday and found several boxes with multiple bags of marijuana. They also recovered four semi-automatic handguns.

Four more semi-automatic handguns and a shotgun were found at Camarillo's house, where he was arrested. An investigation revealed one of the guns to be stolen.

Camarillo is expected to appear in Central Bond court today, according to the release.
