1 dead, 1 Injured in Humboldt Park Fire

The blaze occurred at a residential building in the 1600 block of North Central Park Avenue

    Chicago Fire Fighters responded to reports of a fire at a residential building early Saturday morning.

    A man is dead and another was injured during a fire early Saturday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

    The working fire occurred about 1:30 a.m. at a residential building in the 1600 block of North Central Park Avenue, Fire Media Affairs Officer Sean Flynn said.

    A man suffered second and third degree burns as well as severe smoke inhalation, Flynn said.

    Jaime Martinez, 43, of the 1600 block of North Central Park Avenue, was pronounced dead at St. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center at 2:05 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

    A second man was also taken to St. Mary after suffering from smoke inhalation.
