1 Shot in Possible Plainfield Home Invasion

Two masked men burst into an apartment where they shot one man and attacked another, police said

Plainfield Police are searching for two men who fled from a possible home invasion that left one person beaten and another with a gunshot wound.

Police said two masked men burst into an apartment around 1:15 a.m. in the 24100 block of East Main Street armed with a shotgun and handgun.

Inside were five men and one woman, all in their late teens to earls 20s. At some point the handgun went off, striking another man in the upper arm, police said. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he is expected to be OK. Another man was attacked and beaten.

The two offenders took off in what police describe as a dark-colored SUV. Police said they don't believe neighboring residents are in danger.

"We don't believe it's a random type act," said Police Chief John Konopek. "We believe the offenders were targeting that specific residence. We're not sure for what reason, that's still part of our investigation."
