1 Killed, 2 Injured in Wrong-Way Expressway Crash

The crash occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on the Bishop Ford Freeway in south suburban Dolton

One person was killed and two others were injured in a wrong-way crash early Saturday on the Bishop Ford Freeway in south suburban Dolton.

A vehicle headed north in the southbound lanes of I-94 collided with a southbound vehicle about 2:30 a.m. near 147th Street, according to Illinois State Police.

Two people from the southbound vehicle were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. One of them was later pronounced dead, while the other was listed in serious condition.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death but did not provide further details Saturday morning.

The wrong-way driver was taken to Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Hammond, Ind., with minor injuries, according to police.

Police said all three people involved in the crash were adults, but their exact ages and genders were not immediately available.

Police said alcohol might have been a factor in the crash. All lanes were shut down for investigation after the crash, but they were reopened by 7:15 a.m.
